Through careers in energy and utilities, people work to reliably provide energy to a growing
world, while minimizing the impact on the environment.
Energy exists to help people. Without it, your morning would have been different without
a charged cell phone, hot water, stove, or TV. All these things depend on energy sources like
natural gas, electricity, oil, or solar power.

Median Salary : $61,948
Linemen work on or around high voltage wires and equipment that carry electricity from the plant to a
home or business. They build lines, set poles, hang transformers and connect service for customers. It is
their job to keep the entire system in good repair. Linemen also perform the task of restoring power
after severe storms. Linemen are the lifeblood of the utility business. Since linemen climb poles and
maintain or construct power lines, being able to climb and work at great heights is an essential trait for
the profession. They also inspect and test power lines and other equipment using special reading and

What I like most about working in the natural gas industry is serving the community. When I get a call to a home for a gas leak or a service call, I take pride in making sure the customer is satisfied and feels safe before I leave. I also like to give as much information about natural gas as I can to educate our customers and make sure they know the importance and many uses of the product we provide.
